"African Mask" Enamel Pin

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Regular price $10.00

Inspired by a wooden mask made by a Kwele sculptor, who created it in either Gabon or the Republic of the Congo during the 19th–20th century. This type of mask acts as an intermediary between the forest and the village.

The work is now housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection.
