The bold, geometric design on this scarf is derived from a cotton and camelid hair cloth fragment (5th–2nd century BCE) in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection. The textile artisans of ancient Peru had an inordinate sensitivity to the complexities of structure, pattern, and color. This luxuriously soft wool-silk blend scarf incorporates designs inspired by these ancient Peruvian textiles.
