by Andrea Applebee

"Aletheia is a Greek word variously translated as “unclosedness,” “unconcealedness,” “disclosure,” or “truth.” All of these closely related meanings, and the differences among them, are the subject matter of Andrea Applebee’s bright, burning poetry. “To lightly touch the length of your cheek / as if it were water // time, good luck, bad. What does it matter / to us, in the late light.” — John Ashbery

Andrea Applebee is a poet, teacher, editor, and art critic living in Athens, Greece. She received an MFA in nonfiction and poetry from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010, and a BA in English from Davidson College in 2006.
