Bronze Compact x Mickalene Thomas
Third Drawer Down
This brushed bronze purse mirror shows Mickalene Thomas' Qusuquzah Standing Sideways (2012) on one side and Din Facing Forward (2012) on the other. It comes with a leather pouch.
Playing to the artist's complex notions of femininity that often challenge common definitions of beauty, the purse mirror aims to reflect Thomas' embellishment technique via texture and design.
Mickalene Thomas is a 2015 United States Artists Francie Bishop Good & David Horvitz Fellow, distinguished visual artist, filmmaker and curator who has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally. She is best known for combining art-historical, political and pop-cultural references in her works and for her paintings embellished with rhinestones, enamel and rich acrylics that introduce complex notions of femininity and challenge common definitions of beauty and aesthetic representations of women.
- Brushed bronze purse mirror - Double-sided with epoxy coated artwork - Size 2.7" x 2.7" (7cm x 7cm)
